When I got married (back in 2013) I was basically poor. My husband and I were college students headed to grad school and we had to pay for and plan a wedding. Our entire wedding cost about $4000 and we still went on a honeymoon. We incorporated it into our wedding planning. This is why I am so shocked when couples tell me they aren’t going on a honeymoon!
Friends, no matter how intimate you make your wedding, it is still largely an affair involving a lot of people. But your honeymoon is just for the two of you. Its time to relax and enjoy your new partnership without the stress of wedding planning. It is so important to go on your honeymoon!
Here are some reasons why:
Your wedding is not about you, but your honeymoon definitely is!
It’s your bonding time as a newlyweds and its important, it can honestly set the tone for the first few months of marriage
It’s a stress relief because wedding planning can be so stressful
You both deserve it!
So, I bet you’re saying… “Kelley, I just can’t afford it!”. Even staying in a nearby town and playing tourist is a great way to go on a honeymoon without spending a lot of money. Just do it and try to go immediately after your wedding. If you wait 6 to 9 months after your wedding, then that’s just a vacation!
